Until Flight 409 lost contact with Beirut airport control shortly after takeoff early and crashed into the Mediterranean, killing all passengers around 2:30am on January , 25 of 2010, Ethiopian Airlines had a better safety record than any other African airline , of course except for South African Airways. In November 1996 Ethiopian Airlines Flight 961 was hijacked between Addis Ababa and Nairobi by three Ethiopian terrorists seeking political asylum and the aircraft crashed into the Indian Ocean off the Comoros when it ran out of fuel, killing 125 of the 175 people on board. In September 1988 one of the Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737s made a crash landing at Bahar Dar in Ethiopia after birds entered both engines during takeoff and Thirty-one of the 105 people on board were killed , the blame can not be on the carrier Ethiopian Airlines . Monday’s flight 961 crash may be the Ethiopian airlines third deadly crash and the record says It’s the third deadly crash of Ethiopian Airlines but why blame Ethiopian Airlines? You can not really blame a bird strike or a fleeing terrorist attack on the the Airline’s , the airline’s staff or the airline’s aircraft.
