My father has been an incredible inspiration to me and my sense of self as an African born in America. It warms my heart when I see these great images of Ethiopia and our civilizations birth place.

I am so pleased that you all can enjoy these images as I know that my father works very hard to bring them to us.

all the best,

I was doing some research on the people of Africa and came upon you writing on your adventures in Ethiopia. I had the honor of going to Ethiopia in 1998. I was working a broadcast journalism consultants project held at the headquarters of state broadcasting facility in Addis Ababa. I was there three weeks and I stayed at the Gihon Hotel.
It is an experience that continues to give.
I later sent a crew to cover the churches...You will find the mini documentary under my works on my website www.juliussuber.com. I just wanted to share and to say I think I know how you feel.
I long to go back one day.
Sincerely,
Julius

Dear Chester,

Thank you for the wonderful pictures of southern Ethiopia and Lalibela. Your pictures tell remarkable stories. To me, the people of Omo and surrounding areas are turning their bodies into an encyclopedia of history, culture, and philosophy. Body art is perhaps the most intimate form of art. By allowing their bodies as an instrument of expression, the people share with the rest of humanity their sense of transparency, openness, beauty and happiness.

In Lalibela, the people turn a rocky mountain into a live gallery of religion. Lalibela is magnificent because it is the visual expression of biblical stories and verses. Chester's stunning pictures are affirmations of our ancestral great sense of spirituality.
