Two women were hospitalized late Saturday 03/27/2010 after they were stabbed at South Pointe Park in Miami Beach, police said.The women, who were not identified, were walking with a blanket wrapped around them when Kidane Mengesha approached them and asked if he could get between the two, police said. When the women said “no,” Mengesha, 24, continued with his request and then reportedly pulled out a knife and stabbed both of the women, according to Miami Herald news partner WFOR-CBS 4.One woman was taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, and the other was taken to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. Mengesha was arrested shortly after the incident and charged with attempted second-degree murder and aggravated battery.
He was held without bond Sunday.
I personally consider Kidane as my brother since we grew up in the same orphanage filled with numerous abuses and mental traumas while we were in Ethiopia. I got picked by adoptive parents long before he did and managed to recover quickly .I would like to take this opportunity to point out that Kidane is in no position to be considered as a sane person.

I am glad they got this heavy sentencing. Their parents came to this country, so these kids could go to school and achieve success they never could themselves. Young men in Ethiopia struggling to survive on the streets doing ‘kuli’ work are more behaved than these thug wannabe’s. What a shame for a 24 year old to be wasting his whole life in prison! It is scary to raise a boy in the DC area coming from a conservative background this thuggish behavior is just incomprehensible to some of us.

This type of behavior is new and sad for Ethiopians. Now we are fully integrated into the U.S. society. Thanks guys you made it happen…kidnapping and armed robbery? What is this world coming to?

This is out of control. 75 years in jail for DABO? Let this be a lesson for the rest of the people that crime never pays and avoid destructive people around you. I am sad for both families.
