Dear Ms. Alehegn,

It was a refreshing pleasure to read your story on Afriican American & Ethiopian Relations. Unfortunately, not enough people know of this history...especially African Americans. However, whenever I encounter those who are ignorant of this fact, I point them to the book, ITALY'S WAR CRIMES IN ETHIOPIA - 1935-1941. Evidence of the War Crime Commission. This book was first published in 1946 by Sylvia Pankhurst; researched and written by Imani Kali-Nyah. I have a copy of the Special Year 2000 Edition. The other book is: THE WONDERFUL ETHIOPIANS OF THE ANCIENT CUSHITE EMPIRE, by Drusilla D. Houston. She was from Oklahoma, and wrote this book in the late 1800s. Again, thanks for your essay.

This is an amazing history that has never been told. I live in a predominately African American city but some do not even know where Ethiopia is located. I love the fact that we have a rich history with African Americans. I hear how Ethiopians have a negative view of African Americans. However, it is a historical fact that there was a strong connection between Ethiopians and African Americans. I'am above and beyond proud of my country, and history like this one here makes fulfills me with soo much pride. I grew up in the U.S so many of this facts are Unknown to me but evryday I learn soo many good thing about the history of my mother land and I am very proud to be an ETHIOPIAN.
