I love this man!!!!! I love Gara sire new beteshe … i remeber when I was a child my family used to hear it. And also …about Emilia .. when I heard her song Am a big girl in big world … and I asked people who is she cause some people said she was Ethiopian. And now on 10/10/2010 I got all the story together and am proud. Am proud to know she is the daughter of our legond. Ur life gives me strength as me myself living in a foreign country like u! :’(

Teshome is a living Legend!!! My very first experience being in a recording studio was when Teshome was recording with my brother Henock Temsgen and Abegasu Kibrework Shiota in Virginia in 1987-88. That work was truly way beyond its time. It featured Teshome's brother Teddy on Saxophone and Rezene on guitar. Motkulesh Yemelesh (not sure if it is the actual title of the song) is my favorite Ethiopian song period. Thank you for the music!!!

I have learned something new about someone I only knew through music. what an intelectual asset to our mother Ethiopia. “I have certain core principals that I cannot compromise. We have to have mutual respect for our cultural diversity. My wish for Ethiopia is peace, stability and prosperity based on just principals. I have confidence in the new generation.” As a an Ethiopian in my 20s, I share that same dream and principals and I hope we will live long enough to see it happen beyond its cosmetic presence.

What an incridiable story from an amazing, outstanding, talented and brave person. You are a hero to all of us and at most to your country Ethiopia. Not only you, but your doughter as well. The adjustment difficulties that are faced by new immigrants to foreign land involve several socio-economic factors, such as education level, set of professional skills, language skills, etc. Teshome is fluent in the universal language of music. As a skilled professional, he was never really out of job or options for survival. But I would not say his life was without struggle. Without getting into specifics from this interview alone, clearly there was all sorts of struggling the man had to endure.

It is interesting that Ato Teshoma didn’t face the same challenges, difficulties, struggle and hardship that most new immigrants experience in a foreign land? Or at least he didn’t reveal it. That part is very amazing.

I was so emotional and in tears when I read the part about your homesickness and your Mom. What a story! I am happy to hear that the documentary is opening the gate to your country and your Mom’s house. Teshe you had a rich life and and a treasure to excavate. Since a documentary cannot capture the whole story, I hope one of those young writers in Addis will take the challenge to write a book on your life. Thank you for sharing so much of your life through your music and these interviews.

Martha has done a very commendable job in bringing out the best from her interviewee, and her work will remain as one of the best (if not the best) interviews of the year.

Dear Tadias, Thanks to Martha's great interviewing skill, we are indeed treated to an inspiring and uplifting story. Teshome Mitiku's story certainly deserve more than a documentary film. It is a story that has re-ignited and enriched the memories of so many of us who came of age in the Age of Gara Ser New Betesh. We tried to sing the song in private or when we took a break from our football games. Most importantly, we devoted a great deal of our youthful time debating the Semena Worq meanings of the song's lyrics. There was a consensus regarding the core meaning of the song. And that was LOVE. But we debated endlessly as to the degree of intimacy of LOVE expressed in the song. I hope that the authorities of the City of Addis Ababa would designate Teshu's old house in Qebena a historic house and preserve it for posterity. In so doing they would be able to anchor a great family story with the house. They would provide opportunities for young people like Emily to be able to be connected to their past.

Thanks Tadias magazine. Artist Teshome Mitiku is one of my generation’s beloved and popular musicians and writers. I specially enjoyed hearing about his hero daughter Emilia.
