It was the typical Aster Aweke concert, no place to stand, but lots of cheers. She is even more impressive in person than on tape. She is one a hell of an entertainer and an Abesha women of strength and courage. As far as Ethiopian female singers go, she is absolutely the leader. She is priceless, in my opinion.

Open your mind and think outside of your own little “side or world”….everyone has the right to support which “side” they want to be on….and/or not to take a side at all…..

Is she on our side or the other side? She has been running around Ethiopia doing concerts where the purpose is not yet clear. For example her recent show in Bahrdar. What is clear is that she has been used as a propaganda tool in some instances. But the million dollar question still remains. Persoanlly I have never attended any of her concerts in the last 25 years or so that I have been listing to her music and I don’t plan to attend any in the future either.

I am not beating up on or hating on her, but stating the reality that she can avoid the controversy by being aware, awake, and sensitive about social issues. Other than that, Aster is a dynamic singer! I love her music!! In fact, she gets better with age just like fine wine!! Happy to 2011 and many more to come!!!
