MISS VIRGINIA USA 2003: Dr. Meron "Mimi" Abraham

24-year old Mimi Abraham, a practicing Pharmacist in the state of Virginia, has always dreamed of becoming a star, but finishing up school was her priority. She told the pageant organizers, “becoming part of the entertainment industry has long been a dream of mine, however, education was always a major focus. Now that I have successfully completed the Doctor of Pharmacy program, I feel better prepared to pursue my dreams.”

That dream was partly realized when she was recently crowned as Miss Virginia USA 2003. She asserts, “I have found this pageant to be a wonderful provider of skills and exposure that will lead me towards a great future!”

A native of Ethiopia, Dr. Mimi is tri-lingual and fluent in Amharic, Spanish and English. When she is not practicing pharmacy, her time is devoted to helping her community. Her most recent public service was dedicated to helping the families of the victims of September 11. Mimi recounts: “During this time I devoted hours to raising money…through the United Way and the Salvation Army.”

On March 24, Mimi represented her state in the Miss USA competition in San Antonio, Texas, becoming the first woman of Ethiopian origin to compete for the national title.
