TADIAS — Last month, the Ethiopian & Eritrean Chamber of Commerce was officially inaugurated in Dallas, Texas, with Mayor Eric L. Johnson leading the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Dallas International District.

The launch marks a trailblazing moment for both communities in the United States, creating a shared business and cultural hub that supports entrepreneurship, economic mobility, and cross-cultural exchange. It also sets an inspiring example for Ethiopian and Eritrean communities across the country and beyond — showing what is possible when business leaders come together around opportunity, innovation, and shared progress.

According to the inaugural announcement, the new chamber will serve as a central resource for the region’s large Ethiopian and Eritrean populations, offering support for small businesses, connecting entrepreneurs with American enterprises, and fostering trade and investment.

“This is a historic occasion for Dallas and our Ethiopian and Eritrean communities,” Mayor Johnson said at the ceremony, praising the chamber’s role in strengthening the city’s global economic ties.

Yilma Feleke, interim president of the chamber’s board, added that the new office represents “a home where our communities can build businesses, share their cultures, and contribute to the city’s thriving economy.”
